  4. It was awesome to see The Big Joe Hurt Band perform at the Valencia GAP as part of GAP's nation-wide simultaneous concert. The manager mentioned that Big Joe and the band had been chosen to play, out of nearly 300 bands that applied for the Valencia location gig. They have a great sound and it's obvious that they have a lot of passion for what they are creating. You could tell they were having fun performing, too and the crowd that they gathered was totally enjoying themselves. If you have never heard them play, their music is definitely worth checking out.
  5. Saw you guys live at The Gap and you definitely know how to dig at someone's soul. Love the music you're bringing to the world which is deep, heartfelt, and soulful. I feel your hurt Big Joe.
  6. I heard this band at GAP Valencia..this band is totally awesome. Joe could really get you going and with Enrique's (lead guitarist) guitar and Alex's (bass guitarist) pumping Bass, your mood will change. Not to mention ofcourse the Congo and Beat Box duo : ). Cute backup singers too and they could really sing.

  9. Man talk about soul food for the soul! I thought it was funny when what of the harmony singers said one of the tunes was a baby making song! But then I listened and watched and knew exactly what she meant. My favorite song was The Sting of Love Your show was a treat for mind, body, and soul!
  10. My friend took me to see you ladies and gents in Santa Monica. We had a blast listening to you play! The last song made me feel like I was at a revival or something. Can't wait to see you on the west side again. Keep it up
  11. Intelligent Poetry for your Soul, February 20, 2008 This is an album, well-done. I too heard a Chicano Springsteen in Big Joe Hurt, especially on "Dejame." Each song on this album is detailed, musically poetic, and simply knows how to intrigue a true music lover. I fell in love with BJH's sound instantly and I urge those browsing this page to put their dollars in to this album. I felt a connection with many of the lyrics. I have closed my eyes and developed a mental picture of just what Big Joe Hurt is evoking into his listeners. The guitar riffs, the soulful richness of BJH's voice will impress you in thinking this novice album ranks up there with those who've made their mark in the Blues industry. The edge this has too is the simply beautiful spanish tracks. Take a listen, go ahead and smile and nod as I have. I hope this album is an indication of what to expect more of in the future. Paz!
  12. Fantastic Musician and Awesome Voice! Have you ever heard music that just spoke to you? Well, this mans music has spoken to me. With depth and feeling like no other out there, Joe will bring you into a world of emotion with a few cords and words that move you. On Naturaleza Muerta, you think you maybe listening to Springsteen in Spanish, but it is Joe with all his heart and soul in it. On Mothers Dirt you hear about the gritty side of life,of people just doing what they can to feed their children. Bolero makes you want to get up and dance with its Santana inspired sound. Take a chance...this man KNOWS his stuff! His voice envelopes you with warmth and sadness at the same time. The soulfulness in his voice is so moving and full of feeling,it almost feels as though you are feeling all that he has felt while writing and singing these songs. With a mix of Soul music, Spanish ballads, and rocking tunes you can find something for everyone....BUY THIS ALBUM! You will be glad you did... I know I AM FOR SURE!
  13. Not since Santana, has a Latino really impacted the music world such as Big Joe Hurt!!!! I've been to a bunch of his shows and have seen the diversity and ability of him and his band to really bring out the best in people. His music has the power to move people in such a way that they are not normally used to, in that they feel emotional and content with their lives. I think Big Joe Hurt may not necessarily be on MTV cribs, but I never have thought that was their intent, I think that if you are wanting to awaken your emotions and spirit, all you need to do is listen to his track "6am" and you might understand what the human spirit might really be about!
