Tweak your guitar tone. Quick and easy first step

I am always trying to figure out ways to refine my tone.  Currently I am playing flat wounds and they sound great but it took me a couple of years of trying diffrent brands and guages before I settled in on the ones I am playing on now.  Sometimes a simple tweak helps push your tone closer to your liking.

Another easy way to alter your sound is via experimenting with different string gauges. A guitar strung with extra light gauge strings will sound completely different than the same guitar strung with medium or heavy gauge strings.
